Period 2:
Monday:  Finish Canada 150 logo, Learn and analyze the words to O'Canada

Friday:  Stating our opinion - complete the Anticipation Guide for your Opinions about Canada - be prepared to talk about each one. 

Period 4::
Monday:  Writing an Opinion Essay
-Watch short video summarizing Opinion Writing -
-Take a look at samples of Opinion Essays - fill out the organizer
Tuesday:  We worked on Thesis writing - have 2 completed

Thursday and Friday - Choose your topic - we will be working on the outline in class.
Friday homework:  Complete your rough copy on the graphic organizer provided.

Period 4:
-Study for Vocabulary test- using Quizlet words
-Fill out Reflection and Self-Assessment for Two Truths and a Lie Activity - make sure final writing is submitted.
-Hallowe'en Short Story Unit -Edgar Allen Poe - do a little research - what can you find out about him?   What characteristics do we see in gothic genre of writing?
Friday homework:  Complete the Comprehension questions

The Tell-Tale Heart!

We are starting to read some "spooky" stories before Hallowe'en - focussing on mood, theme, foreshadowing and conflict.

Our first story is the classic - The Tell-Tale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe.

We will read a readers theatre version of the story, and will read Poe's works next week.
